Why are these Puppies Reduced? Is there something “wrong” with these puppies?

There are many reasons why a puppy may be a little older or reduced in price. There’s nothing wrong with older puppies. Currently, we have a group of older puppies available for several reasons.

Health Crises – I’ve had quite a few health challenges for several months now, starting in late spring and lasting through the summer. I’ve been in the hospital, and my health is still not back to normal. I was not able to adequately advertise many of the puppies that we have available. We also have rapidly changing family dynamics, including more of our children attending new schools and a grandbaby on the way! We are in need of space and less on our plates.

We don’t have the capacity to answer a million questions or do lots of new photos and videos. We have reduced the price to reflect our inability to provide all of these extras. Please be considerate and don’t ask for more than we are able to provide.

Other Reasons There are Sometimes “Older” Puppies Available:

1. Time of Year. Sometimes, if a puppy is ready in the late spring/summer, people want to wait until after vacation season to add a puppy, so there are more puppies available. This is a great time to add a new puppy to your family if you’re on a limited budget.
2. Puppies who are initially shy or very active. These puppies are sometimes harder to capture in photos and videos. This makes it difficult to advertise them and adequately show their cuteness. If you can see past a puppy’s initial shyness or higher energy level, you can add a wonderful member to your family for less than you might pay for a similar puppy.
3. Puppies whose coats go through a “scruffy” phase when it’s transitioning to an adult coat. We clip our puppies short when their coats get to this stage. Most people want a fluffy puppy and have a hard time envisioning what the coat will look like grown back out. But, we’ve actually done all the hard work for you! If you can be patient and wait for your puppy’s coat to grow out again, you can save money!
4. Puppies who are very small and haven’t been initially offered for sale until they’re much older. We don’t offer our tiniest puppies until they’re at least 3 pounds, and sometimes, this takes until they are 3 months or older!
5. Puppies who are “less desirable” in color or looks. Sometimes puppies who have a certain face shape, coat type, or color aren’t scooped up as quickly. Ironically, desired color changes constantly. Sometimes, in a litter, the black or parti pupppies are the ones who are reserved first, and sometimes, they wait a little longer.
6. Other Reasons Sometimes, a puppy needs a certain kind of family, and the families that inquire about that puppy are not a good fit. Active puppies need active families, and quiet, shyer puppies need families who will offer a slower pace of life. We have turned away families who we have felt are not the right fit for a certain puppy, even if that means they wait a little longer. Sometimes, puppies are overlooked for no reason at all, and they are just waiting for their perfect person to come along!
